Card Types and Aspects
In The Scape, each card has a Card Type (what it does in combat) and an Aspect (the source/theme of its power).
Card Types
- Attack — Deals damage.
- Block — Prevents incoming damage.
- Heal — Restores health.
- Fast — Can be played without ending the turn; cannot be Channeled but may be used to pay Channel costs.
- Special/Hybrid — Cards that modify rules or combine roles (details defined on the card).
Note: Playing an Action card ends your turn unless the card is Fast.
Aspects
All five Aspects can produce Attacks, Blocks, and Heals appropriate to their concept. (Fast and Special cards may also belong to any Aspect.)
- Creation — Life, growth, renewal.
- Destruction — Fire, lightning, elemental ruin.
- Prime — The raw essence of reality; attacks or disrupts the soul.
- Order — Law, structure, bindings; forces enemies to conform to new rules.
- Chaos — Fortune, luck, randomness, entropy.
Design Notes
- No Aspect “owns” a Card Type; card text defines exact behavior and exceptions.
- Aspect identity influences flavor and mechanics, but balance is determined per card.
